What is a Stair Nosing?
A Stair Nosing is an angled profile consisting of an aluminium or PVCu carrier with a slip resistant tread material on the upper surface (tread).
Stair Nosings are installed on stairways to:
1. Define and highlight the edge of the step.
2. Protect the nose of the step and to prevent wear to the floor covering thus prolonging life.
3. Also offer, through the correct colour choice a attractive aesthetic finish to a stairway.

Issue
Brunswick is a superb new scheme of 251
bedrooms, a mixture of studios and cluster rooms, offering outstanding student accommodation
in the heart of Cambridge. The customer
required stair nosings for 7 staircases, 296 steps in total that were durable
enough for high traffic. While there was also the design restraint of the
staircases being cast metal and therefore no mechanical fixings could be used.
Solution
Easifloor requested a site visit
from an ASM who was able to interpret the specifications and propose the use of
the Q-Range as it fully met the architects, builders and contractors needs.
Using the unique QSMS measuring
system all 296 steps were individually measured, cut and delivered separately
labelled.
The Q range has helped to create safe
and stylish staircases for the modern building. QRHF1 was selected in Polar
Grey to provide a single solid band of colour that visibly contrasted with the
dark grey floor covering defining the step edge, this is in line with the
Equality Act.
